Teen Writers Studio
Teen Writers Studio takes place once a week throughout the school year, as a group of teens from all over the city meet to practice writing and explore their personal styles. Professional authors visit to lead workshops, share their experience as writers, and introduce students to a variety of styles and genres. Additionally, Teen Writers Studio participants complete twenty hours of service by volunteering at After-School Writing Lab and by representing 826CHI at outreach events across Chicago.
Each spring, TWS students produce a chapbook, which they share and celebrate at a release party with friends, family, and 826CHI's community.
four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 to 6:30pm throughout the school year. Volunteer tutors assist 1st through 8th graders with daily writing exercises, homework, and reading. Students also sharpen their creative writing skills during each session and each semester their writing is published in a bilingual chapbook and celebrated by the 826CHI community.
If you have any questions, please email Asia at asia@826chi.org.
**In year prior the studio was held in person, however, the past two schools years have been held in a virtual setting.
