Showcasing Creativity & Expression in the School
Mme Payment’s class made art about their new year resolutions. They made their resolutions based off of the 4 teachings, Belonging, generosity, mastery, and independence. The art style is based on the indigenous art, using the medicine wheel as a base, and having the spiritual animal to represent each teaching. For belonging, they thought about how they could help their community. For generosity they thought of goals on how they can show generosity, kindness, and unselfishness, with things like gift giving or helping someone. For mastery they thought of something they could improve on, not just to be better, but to show they’re trying. And lastly for independence they set goals for themselves on personal responsibility for your body health, and wellness, to show responsibility.

Mme Dibartolo’s class created art inspired by the work of Ted Harrison, whose pieces were deeply influenced by the indigenous people of North Winnipeg and the natural beauty of the Yukon. The students focused on capturing winter landscapes, the northern environment, and the vibrant cultural elements that Harrison often depicted in his art. To bring their creations to life, they used a variety of materials, including pencil crayons, sharpies, pastels, and watercolors, experimenting with different textures and techniques to express the essence of the northern landscapes and indigenous culture.
