Students will alternate their schedule weekly. Students switch after lunch except Wednesday where they switch after first recess. Students who start with one teacher in the morning one week, the following week will be in the other classroom after lunch.
Classroom Logistics:
Classroom:
Snacks: We will have 2 snacks during the day. The 2nd snack can be a finish your lunch snack. Please make sure your snacks are nut-free. We eat our snacks after recess.
Water Bottles and Lunch boxes: Please write your child's name on their water bottle.
Sweaters/jackets: Please write your child's name on them as well. By lunch recess, they come off and get forgotten.
Please return yellow or purple folders preferably on Monday. But they can bring the folder all week and place in the bin to be returned home on Friday.
Drop Off: Students can be dropped off at front or back of the school. Students being dropped off before 8:20 need to go to the cafeteria. Parents are still not allowed to enter the building with their students. Families should say there good byes at the entrance of the school.
Pick Up (carpool): 2nd grade will be picked up in the back of the school were K and 3 are being picked up. The back of the school is on Potter street. If they have a younger first grade sibling, they should be picked up in the front with that younger sibling.
This is a moving carpool lane. Please pull forward as much as you can. Your child will walk to you. At no time should an adult leave the car. Ideally, your student's car-seat should be place on the passenger side on the back to avoid kids crossing in front of a car. Start moving and your child will get buckled.
If your child has an older sibling at the school, your child's older sibling will line up with the younger sibling at the back of the school. If your child has a younger first grade sister, then they will go to the front school carpool. Your child should know where they are being picked up at the end of the day. Students should also know if they are going to Fun Club.
-------------------------------------
Star of the Week: Each student in the class will be the Star of the Week. They will each have to present in French and English on Fridays. Students will have an opportunity to share small items about themselves. They also have extra responsibilities as the teacher helper and line leader. The star of the week will greet everyone in the morning. Please help him/her arrive at the first bell at 8:20.
Birthdays: We unfortunately can not have parties or large celebrations for children's birthdays. They receive an announcement over the intercom in the morning and a song in French.
Snacks: We have snacks in the mornings only, just after recess. We cannot accommodate gloopy snacks such as yogurt tubes, applesauce, kefir, and Juice etc. As they can be very messy in the classroom. Try one of these:
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Dried fruit
Cheese
Sunflower or pumpkin seeds
Baked chips
Whole-grain cereals (be aware of sugar content)
Whole-grain or multigrain crackers
Please give special attention to the sugar content in your child's snack and discourage fruit roll-ups, fruit snacks, cookies, sugary cereal, energy/cereal bars that are high in sugar. Sugary items can be reserved for dessert during lunch. Please encourage children to know the difference between their lunch dessert and their snack.

Schedule:
PE/Music days are Tuesdays and Fridays.
Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothes and shoes those days.
-----------------------------------------------------
Communication: Please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss your child’s learning. Emails are my preferred first method of communication but if more detail is needed to address a concern, telephone calls, and meetings can always be arranged.
----------------------------------------------------
Volunteer: Volunteers need to have a background check and go through the training through the school. We prefer parents who are willing to come at the same time each week and do not care that their student will only be in the classroom every other week.
