Upcoming
There is still more at Sheldon that offers activities for students. Not only are there sports and clubs! At Sheldon, there is also theatre, band, choir, and marching band. I’ll be going over each type of band and choir and what you must do in order to participate in certain ones.
Theatre is a type of performing arts, as well as band and marching band, including drama classes, and performs several plays per year. Students become more confident in expression and articulation, as well as many other skills. This includes speech and movement. Band, including a variety of groups, is another type of performing arts that peak many people’s interests. It consists of Symphonic band, Concert band, Intermediate Jazz band, Evolution Jazz band, Elements Jazz band, Marching band, Wind Ensemble, and Pep band. You can fill out the New Member Google Form to let Sheldon know that you’re interested. Also, in order to be a part of the Wind Ensemble (advanced band) as a 9th grader, you must go to auditions, which will be available soon. And, to register for the marching band, fill out the form linked here (this includes color guard). The next performing arts on the list is choir. There are three choirs at Sheldon, including Concert choir, which is a beginning level for those who are new to choir, Varsity choir, which is an advanced choir group that performs in many concerts, festivals, and competitions, and Dublinaires, a small mixed ensemble that puts emphasis on performing jazz. The last performing arts on the Sheldon list is orchestra. Orchestra is a string ensemble that can be challenging and, for Sheldon, meets early in the morning at 7:30am.
Don’t miss out on these fun Sheldon opportunities! Whether it comes to sports or classes, many things have a deadline, and it’s important to get final forms turned in. This includes leadership.
