Gold Reef City is a theme park in Johannesburg. It is located on an old gold mine which closed in 1971. The park is themed around the gold rush that started in 1886 that led to the establishment of Johannesburg. With Africa's tallest, biggest and fastest thrill rides, family rides, a 4D theatre and a fascinating mine museum with an underground mine tour, Gold Reef City is one of the most popular amusement parks in South Africa.

The Cradle of Humankind, an hours drive from Joburg, is where humankind originated and is one of the major tourist attractions in South Africa. The area boasts 13 excavation sites that are recognised as national heritage sites.

Maropeng is a world-class exhibition centre that focuses on the development of humans and our ancestors over the past few million years. Visitors are met by what appears to be a massive burial mound, the entry point into the secrets of humankind's beginnings.

The Sterkfontein Caves are world renowned for their fossil finds and a well-known visitor destination. Guided tours take visitors on a journey deep under the earth to the place where the remains of some of our oldest ancestors have been discovered.
