Environmental and Earth Science

At the 2023 STEM Fair there are multiple exhibits for those who are interested in Environmental Science.

UIS's Therkildsen Field Station at Emiquon will be at the fair to explain what research is done at the field station and how schools and clubs can arrange field trips to Emiquon.

Think Geospatial provides curriculum resources for teachers and runs a middle school and high school online story map competition centered around geospatial technologies.

Cooper Jets 4H will be at the fair to exhibit its environment oriented STEM activities

NWS Lincoln will be at the fair to exhibit its meteorology programs for students of all ages

Lincoln Memorial Garden each summer hosts Ecology Camps for K-8 students

Illinois RiverWatch enables students and parents to become citizen scientists as they monitor the health of Illinois streams.  

Illionois Envirothon is the high school competition that tests teams of 5 students on their knowledge of the natural environment while requiring them to showcase and apply analytical problem-solving while developing solutions to environmental and natural resource issues.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources uses scientific research and testing to manage our state's natural environment


Past exhibitors that are unable to be part of the 2023 STEM Fair

Lincoln Orbit Earth Science Society (LOESS) is devoted to collecting, examining, and showcasing rocks and fossils while understanding the geology of the areas they collect from.  LOESS runs a huge mineral and fossil show at the Illinois State Fairgrounds every October.
