Chemistry
At the 2023 Central Illinois STEM Fair there are multiple exhibits for those who are interested in chemistry.
The Decatur-Lincoln local section of the American Chemical Society will have hands-on opportunities for students. During the school year, ACS offers ChemClub and Chemistry Olympiad opportunities to schools. Monticello Middle School is the only school in the local section currently running a sanctioned ChemClub.
Rochester High School's Chemistry Club will have an exhibit of their recent activities.
Chem Lab and Environmental Chemistry are two of the competition areas for the 2023 Science Olympiad Division C (high school). Rochester High School's Science Olympiad team will be at the STEM Fair.
Lincoln Land Community College's Chemistry Department will have an exhibit at the STEM Fair
Other programs that are not anticipated to be at the 2023 STEM Fair:
EIU runs the high school Academic Challenge which includes a chemistry test. Learn how to bring one of those activities to your school.
IMSA also offers an online research program called RISE where you can do independent research in chemistry with the support of an advisor.
Millikin University runs summer chemistry camps for high school students.
Illinois State University runs a week-long chemistry research opportunities for high school students through its Illinois Summer Research Academy. For 2023 the chemistry options include Biochemistry and the application of computer modeling to solve chemistry problems.
