    • I am writing you regarding a serious issue in our community, especially among my peers. Pornography, in all of its forms (books, magazines, and especially internet on handheld devices) is a silent threat to the health and well-being of children and teenagers in our community. The effects of pornography are a serious and real as drugs and alcohol use. Research shows significant links between pornography use and many issues in our society, including addiction, sexual activity at younger ages, abuse, isolation, social dysfunction, decreased feelings of self-worth, objectification of others (especially women and children), sex trafficking, and other violent behaviors and crimes (see learn.ftnd.org). Although there is much done to educate children about drugs and alcohol, there is no education offered to warn parents and youth of the dangers of pornography. An approved Eagle Scout Project of the Boy Scouts of America is trying to bring pornography awareness education to our area. I am hoping it will begin a conversation that will put in place appropriate education about pornography. This scout has partnered with a non-profit organization (FightTheNewDrug.com) that is devoted to educating individuals and groups about the personal and societal dangers of pornography. Because pornography lurks in the dark, education is the key to bring its dangers and consequences to light. Will you come see this special presentation and bring others with you . This project needs our support. You can share, support, and donate at pornhurts.info.

Word of mouth.

    • Everyone has clubs, organizations, associations, groups, councils, or teams they associate with. Start talking about it and invite them to do the same. Just say, "Hey, did you see what that 15-year old is doing for his Eagle project?" Then, see where it goes.
