ファリオスに入ったきっかけ : 少々古い話になりますが、今から33年ほど前のパリ日本人会はソフトボールトーナメントしか存在しておりませんでした。そこで私は友人の寺嶋氏と共に日本人会の当時の会長に掛け合い、我々の手で会員を集めると言う条件で日本人会テニストーナメントを開催することにたどり着きました。

第1回のテニス大会は1986年の春で個人戦のみでスタートしました。当時のレベルが低かったこともあり私は男子ダブルスで友人の山口氏とペアを組み優勝しました。1986年秋の第2回大会が1回目の団体戦でした。努力の甲斐があり合計11チーム集まりました。その大会で私が所属しいたエコースポーツクラブは11チーム中の5位でした。そして翌年の秋も5位、但し、翌々年1988年秋は念願の優勝を果たしました。そして月日は流れ2001年にエコースポーツクラブからファリオスにチーム名を変更して再スタートし、今日に至っております。

思い出 : 沢山ある思い出の中で一番はやはり2012年8月のニーステニス合宿ですね。ニース在住で元ファリオスキャプッテン笹野氏が所属するテニスクラブで午前中テニスをして、午後はプールで遊び、そして皆んなで一緒に食事した一週間の思い出は私の一生の宝と言っても過言ではありません。是非もう一度今のチームと一緒にテニス合宿をやりたいですね。勿論東京ファリオスの方々も大歓迎です！

How I joined Farios : My story goes back more than 33 years. Back then, there existed only a soft ball tournament within the Japanese community. So with my friend Terashima, we went to the president of the Japanese association and negotiated the organization of a Tennis tournament under the condition that we ourselves recruit the members.

The first Tennis tournament was a individual entry tournament in the Spring of 1986. Partly because the overall level of Tennis at the time was rather low, I was able to win that tournament with my doubles partner Yamaguchi! In the autumn of 1986, we organized the first team-based tournament. With put in a lot of organizational effort and managed to make 11 teams. The team I was in, Eco Sports Club was 5th. The year after, we also ended up 5th, but in 1988, we finally won the tournament! Time went on, and in 2001, Echo Sports Club became Farios, heralding the beginning of a new era.

Memories of Farios: Of the many wonderful memories I have of Farios, the one best one is probably the training camp and away matches in Nice. At the tennis club of former Farios captain Sasano, we played Tennis in the morning, played in the pool in the afternoon, and dined together. I'm not exaggerating by saying that this is a memory I treasure for the rest of my life. I'd love to go for another training trip again with the current team. Of course, former members now in Tokyo would be more than welcome to join!
