After falling in love with vintage kitchens in the video game Fallout, these clients were inspired to take on a kitchen remodel of their own. Shirey Home Pro wanted to bring in fun, bright colors, creative design solutions and 1940s-inspired moments to give their clients a retro look they’d love. The project transformed the kitchen into a vintage masterpiece using new retro appliances, modern cabinetry and Fiesta tile on the backsplash.

To create a focal point in the home, the team removed the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room. They also removed a skinny island to eliminate some pinch points. The most prominent kitchen from Fallout featured aqua colors, checkerboard flooring, a yellow backsplash and bubbly retro appliances. That inspired the team to look into Big Chill appliances and chunky Fiesta ceramic tiles. Big Chill’s Jadite Green colors paired perfectly with creamy white cabinets and the client’s jade milk glass dishware collection. The team installed era-accurate Armstrong vinyl composition tiles in emerald green and white checkerboard pattern on the floor ready to do the jitterbug on!

The clients are in love with their new “vintage” kitchen and now enjoy cooking homemade meals again.
