How to Schedule an Appointment

Scheduled appointments can be made through our e-mail and Google forms.

Walk-Ins are available upon tutor availability.

1. Plan ahead

If you know when your paper is due (and you should), seek assistance in advance. We recommend visiting the Writing Center ASAP to give you enough time to revise after meeting with a tutor. Do not visit us the day your paper is due. If you feel you may need several appointments for an assignment, space them out. For example, consider scheduling appointments for your first and final drafts.

2. Check our schedule

The Writing Center is only open at specific times during a semester. Check our schedule here to see if we have any openings. Slots titled OPEN may be reserved. Slots titled RESERVED are already taken. Find a few time slots that work best with your schedule and we will do our best to accommodate you.

3. Visit us at the Writing Center, send us an email, OR fill out our Appointment Request form

When you have found times that work best for you, you may either visit the Writing Center or send us an email to schedule an appointment.

Scheduling in person: Should you visit us in person, you will get an immediate confirmation of your appointment's reservation. Find an available Tutor to assist you, and he/she will work with you to get scheduled.

Email scheduling: If you choose to email us, please be aware that we reply to emails only during working hours. Emails are also read on a first-come, first-serve basis. We recommend sending us 2 or 3 slots that work for you in the event someone else has emailed before you.

Fill out the Appointment Request form: Our form follows a similar format to e-mail scheduling. Simply fill out the required information and wait for a tutor to confirm your request.

4. Come to your appointment

During your appointment, please bring all materials relevant to your current assignment. These might include (but are not limited to) the assignment prompt, your course syllabus, any drafts you have already written, or even past assignments that contain your professor or instructor's feedback. Also, please have a hard copy of your paper. We will not entertain papers that are emailed to us, nor will we interact with papers that are still on your phone, tablet, or laptop.

If you are unable to make it to your appointment, please let us know in advance.

5. Messaging a tutor through Moodle

For students who are in classes with an embedded tutor you may reach out using Moodle to schedule an appointment. The first thing you would do is create your message similar to how our email format requires a request to look like. This would include: the type of paper you are writing, what issue you would like help with, and three different times you would be available for a session.
