These were taken at the car's first race at Laguna Seca April 29, 1979. The

car had never been tested until the first practice section at Laguna the day

before the race.

I finished 14th, fastest lap time 1:14.54. Some interesting things about the

race...After the race I found out that my crew put the brake pads in

backwards, so it was metal to metal. Not knowing what to expect from the

big brakes they seemed to slow the car O.K. I ran so close to the Mazda's

that the flames from their exhaust burnt the paint off the nose of the car.
