Passwords

yWriter 5.2.0.4 will add the option to set a password per project. (You'll find the password setup under the Misc tab on the project settings form, along with basic information about the new feature.)

It's not designed to encrypt your files or protect you from someone determined to read your data. It's just a gentle reminder to kids, family and co-workers that you don't want them reading your work. (If they really want to read your novel, they'd only have to open the RTF5 folder and double-click the RTF files to view the contents.)

This feature is for the registered version of yWriter only, since I can't handle a large volume of email asking how to recover a lost password, remove a password, load a project without knowing the password, and so on. (Short answer: I can't help you. Long answer: You can bypass a password by manually editing the YW5 file, or loading the project into a version of yWriter older than 5.2.0.4. Like I said, the password feature only offers minimal protection.)

If you try to load a password-protected file in an unregistered copy of yWriter (5.2.0.4 or later), you still have to enter the password.
