Club Information

The West Valley RC Mariners club (WVRCM) was founded by Jack David & Barbara Ruhnke-David in 1995 with the purpose “to foster fellowship, promote common interest and exchange of information, sponsor and engage in activities and events pertaining to “quiet” radio control model boating including, but not necessarily limited to: radio control sailboats, scale vessels, submarines and “fast” electrics”.

Since that time WVRCM has established an enviable reputation for the quality of its sail and scale events. The club has hosted nine National Championship regattas, 1998 36/600 Class, 2005, 2012 & 2017 SeaWind Class, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2017 & 2019 Micro Magic Class and many Regional Championship level events and has a regular program of club level regattas throughout the year. Four current members have served or currently serve as National Class Secretary for a variety of classes. Jack David is a past Secretary of the 36/600 class, Jay Barnes founded the SeaWind class and was Secretary of the US 1-Meter and the 36/600 classes, Mike Eades is past Secretary of the SeaWind class.

The quality and variety of scale vessels lovingly produced by members over the years range from 9 ft long detailed models of the Titanic and battleship Arizona, through many other military, working and pleasure craft, from kits or custom-built, all exhibiting the craftsmanship and pride of their owners. A WVRCM scale meet usually attracts a crowd of spectators! WVRCM holds regular club business meetings followed by fun sail and scale activities each first Saturday of the month, September through July. Visitors are welcome at all WVRCM activities!
