Welcome to 7th SDS12
The main purpose of this workshop series is to put together researchers of different areas, in particular mathematicians and engineers, to give them the opportunity of discussing, in a friendly atmosphere, recent developments in computational and theoretical methods for Dynamical Systems and their applications.
This edition of our meeting follows six previous editions held, at the same place, in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010. SDS2012 will be focused, as the previous one (SDS2010) on Piecewice Smooth Dynamical Systems, in fact, the plenary speakers will mainly talk on this subject. We will have 9 plenary speakers: Alan Champneys from University of Bristol, Hidde de Jong from Inria, Luca Dieci from Georgia Institute of Technology, Nicola Guglielmi from University of L'Aquila, Tassilo Kupper from University of Cologne, Petri Piiroinen from National University of Ireland, Elio Usai from University of Cagliari and Erik Van Vleck from University of Kansas. These speakers will show both theoretical results and applications to Engeenering, Biology and Medicine.
Each speaker will give two lectures of 40 minutes in order to present in a deep way his research. We will have a total of 18 plenary lectures plus a total of 18 contribution talks, each of 20 minutes.
However, as it is the tradition of this workshop series, we will have contribution talks in numerical methods for ODEs, in numerical methods in Linear Algebra and applications in several fields.
A poster session will be reserved to young researchers, but a number of contribution talks has been moved in this poster section because of the limited space of the time table program.
As it happened during the last two editions of our workshop, a selection of works presented at SDS12 will be published on a special issue of the IMACS Journal ``Mathematics and Computers in Simulations".
Two social events have been organized: the first is an Excursion to the wonderful Castellana caves and the second is a Conference Dinner that will be served at the Hotel, on the terrace if the weather allow us.
A particular thank is due to the sponsors of this workshop:
– Università degli Studi di Bari “Aldo Moro"
– GNCS - Gruppo Nazionale per il Calcolo Scientico (I.N.D.A.M.
– Dipartimento di Matematica e Fisica “Ennio de Giorgi”, Universita del Salento, Lecce
– Progetto PRIN 2008 “Modellazione numerico-computazionale della morfologia parenchimale della tiroide umana"
– Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Puglia
that with their financial support have allowed the organization of this meeting.
We wish you all a great SDS 2012 !!!
