One day, following an earthquake not registered by a single seismograph, a massive crack suddenly appears in the earth's crust along the border between Spain and France. The Iberian Peninsula is set adrift and, having been borne hither and thither on the Atlantic Ocean, embarks on an unshakeable westward course, floating like a gigantic stone raft. All that is left behind is Gibraltar, perched lonely on its rock.

How do the floating population manage? The Spanish and Portuguese are abruptly shaken from their everyday lives. In droves, they abandon their homes along the coast in fear of catastrophe and move inland, where they wander restlessly.

But there are portents: a young woman, Joana, draws a line in the ground with a stick that cannot be erased; the fisherman Joaquim throws a heavy boulder into the waves that defies gravity; the teacher José's every move is followed by a huge flock of starlings; the pharmacist Pedro is the only one in his remote corner of Spain who can feel the earth shake, and an endless woolen thread spins itself from the hands of farmer Maria.

It seems that all of these portents have a single aim: for these people to meet.

They too flee and begin to wander: three men, two women and a dog brought together by chance - or fate. They travel in an old 2CV and later, forced by circumstances, by horse and cart. Love blossoms within the group, and in the course of their wanderings the protagonists discover unexpected riddles within themselves - and the solutions to them.

The STONERAFT is a prophetic saga and a magical fairytale about love between people blessed with intuition.
