Letter from the SG Mini-THON Advisor

Hello, my name is Haley Staub, and I am a proud Spring Grove Rocket (2014) and Penn State University (2018) Alumna. After serving as a SG Mini-THON Overall in 8th grade and having the opportunity to attend Penn State THON for the first time, I knew that I had found my passion and calling.

It is my personal mission to invest in the lives of others and to lead society on a path of gratitude. This mission of service has guided me to pursue a career in philanthropy for Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations where I currently serve as the Assistant Director for Volunteer Programs. As I interact with University volunteers daily, it is important that I, too, volunteer by giving my time, talent, and treasure to organizations that have impacted my journey.

Beyond academics, THON largely defined my Penn State experience. It was the various roles I held as an undergraduate, epitomized by serving on the THON 2018 Executive Committee, that I felt my voice aligned most with my personal mission and made the greatest impact. Each year, I was called to invest more into this organization, and I continue to experience that same calling as an alumna.

Having the opportunity to return to Spring Grove and keep the THON spirit alive is truly an honor and privilege. Since its inception in 2003, the Spring Grove Area Middle and High School students have raised $844,050.02 to help battle childhood cancer.

The SG Mini-THON will be making all of their donations to the Four Diamonds in honor of Scot Becker (2018 graduate), James Stanley (2016 SG graduate), Miranda Harmon (SG graduate), Seth Redden (2020 SG graduate), Aubrey Pace (high school), Dylan Zepp (4th grade), Shiloh Crimmel (Kindergarten), AND in loving memory of Jazmine Rae Cope, Corey Schultz, & Victoria Swiger, SG students who lost their battle with cancer.

I hope you will join us in our annual campaign to find a cure for pediatric cancer! One day we will dance in celebration...Until then we will dance for a cure.

For The Kids,

Haley Staub
