People want to see some of my "old" bottles. Here they are. These bottles are not for sale. Click on these images in order to view them at full size. They are fairly large images.

I have no idea what kind of bottle this is. I think it could be some sort of wine. It almost looks double walled. I think it is just thick walled. If you look at it via a certain angle it looks crooked. It seems very old to me. I think it might be Victorian (1800's). I should be, but I am not an expert in bottles. There's some websites with good bottle info. I could study them and learn how to date these.

Gordon's London Dry Gin (1940's?) This one is somewhat old. I assume it would have had a metal stopper (lid) something like the one on the miniature bottle below.

This is the large bottle with the miniature one. I assume [but am not sure] that the large one would have had a similar label, lid etc. to the miniature.

This one and the next one show the, "State of Florida, Liquor Excise Tax". The tax on this bottles was 7 1/2 cents. ($.07 1/2) How do you have half a cent?

If you click on this one (one above this text) you will see a larger and clearer version. You should be able to read the text on the tax stamp. Notice the clasp that holds the lid onto the bottle.

Old Mull Whisky (Whiskey?). This one has spider webs embossed on the shoulders. This company was not the only one to put embossed spider webs on their bottles.

You can see the spider webs a little better in this picture.

This one didn't come out well either. The embossing on the front is different than the embossing on the back. You can't tell but there is room amongst the embossing for a paper label. It would have been a different label on each side.

I always liked this one. A woman I used to work with gave it to me. I think she said it was some sort of wine? I don't know. Somehow when I see it I think of those liquor bottles where they grow the peach inside the bottle. The "void" or blank space between the sets of stripes (groovs) is where a paper label would have been. (I would assume.) I really have no idea what came in this bottle.

This is a brown bottle with an embossed fish on it. You can't see the fish very well. On the sides and shoulders the bottle is embossing in a fish scales pattern. I am pretty sure that this would be a cod liver oil bottle. They put cod liver oil in brown bottles [even the modern stuff you find in the stores today] because it keeps the vitamin D better. (or some such thing)

Some of my favorite bottles are the ones made of green glass. If you can't tell, the one bottle is probably a beer bottle. The short round one is maybe a medicine (pill) bottle?

I will probably be contacting, "you," first to let you know about this site. (In other words, you should have my E-mail address already.) But if you run across this site on your own some how, and you want to contact me, there is contact information at the top of the page. If you can't reach me that way, then go to: http://www.whatdubhghalldoes.org/feedback.htm. That is the feedback form on our main website. You can follow the directions on the page in order to contact us. (Which is pretty much the same as above, now that I think about it. Had to disable the form because of excessive spam.)
