CookbookCatalogues

I originally got these in 2009. I bought them on eBay. I was planning on looking through them to make a wish list of cookbooks to look for at thrift stores and estate sales. I won't ever have time to look through these. I don't have space for any more cook books.

They came from an eBay seller in Salem, Oregon. These are catalogues from, "Cooks Books," which was located in Rottingdean, Sussex England.

The catalogues seem to have very interesting information in them. The covers are illustrated, and there are illustrations inside. The illustrations are of objects listed in the catalogue.

These look to have been used and looked through. I describe the condition to a point and hit on the major issues I find quickly. I stuck photos of the catalogues on here. These are pretty much in the condition they arrived in. I have left them in the box and wrapped in the tissue paper they came in. I have looked in the box from time to time as I would forget what was inside it.

If you have any questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

Click on the photos below in order to view a larger size. I did the best I could on the photos. I did not use flash so I could avoid glare. I lightened them up a bit in editing. I didn't use any fancy editing on the photos. I just lightened them and made them smaller.

Catalogue 86

Has image of, "Taylor Brothers Cocoas" advertisement on the front. On the back is a sailor from W.W.I era, "Do Your Bit Save Food". One page is missing a corner, but the text is all there. It has some bent corners. Something stuck two pages together. It left a dark spot, but that is nearly a pen prick and doesn't obscure the text.

Catalogue 87

On the front is an illustration of item number, 641 and shows a sort of Art Deco department store shoe department. "Tableau Des Grands Magasins Paris". The back cover is an illustration, "Bakers of York 1595-1596". There are some pen markings (check marks etc.) at some of the entries.

Catalogue 88

The caption on the front says, "No Regrets For Leaving Home" and shows an illustration of item 577, a catalogue of oil cooking stoves. The back is an illustration from item 260, "Leaves from Our Tuscan Kitchen". There are two dog eared pages in this one.

Catalogue 89

Cover shows illustration from, item 431, "Coplas Del Vino Chileno". The back has an illustration from item 604, a gardener's calendar, "Every Man His Own Gardener". There are some creases on two pages. The creases are on the inside of the pages near the spine. They look like they were creased in the manufacturing or printing process. The printing is over the crease. The crease does not obscure the printing.

Catalogue 90

The front cover is of item 550, a print, "Pecheuse D'Huitres De Cancale". The back cover is of, another print, item 536, "Ahasuerus' Feast". There's a smudge on page 35. There is also something white stuck to pages 62 and 63. It is at the bottom of the pages where there is no text.

Catalogue 91

The front cover shows, item 633, "Une Affair De Gout". The back cover illustration from item, 585, "World's Fair Menu and Recipe Book". There are smudges and crinkles to a few pages. Page 61 is the most crinkled. Smudges do not obscure any text.

Catalogue 92

The front is an illustration from item, 266, "The Gastronomic Regenerator". The back cover is from item number 12. There is some damage to this catalogue from moisture of some sort. Something was spilled on it at some point. The color from the front cover has bled to the first page. There is something splattered on the back page.

Catalogue 93

The front cover of this one is from item 221, "The Domestic Oracle". The back cover is from item 608, "La Cuisiniere Bourgeoise". There is a crease to the back half of the book at the top near the spine. I don't seem to find any smudges or any other flaws in it.

I will probably be contacting, "you," first to let you know about this site. (In other words, you should have my E-mail address already.) But if you run across this site on your own some how, and you want to contact me, there is contact information at the top of the page. If you can't reach me that way, then go to: http://www.whatdubhghalldoes.org/feedback.htm. That is the feedback form on our main website. You can follow the directions on the page in order to contact us. (Which is pretty much the same as above, now that I think about it. Had to disable the form because of excessive spam.)
