The Map

Want to talk about the global map? Here's the place. Eventually this page will outline the global map layout and process for the land grab.

Working assumptions about the map:

* The map represents a slice of the northern hemisphere of a roughly earth-sized planet.
* Each hex is 500 miles across point to point.
* Northern hexes are arctic, southern hexes are equatorial.

Regarding Hex Grids 0403 & 0503 just to the south of my grid. I would really like to put rivers off the lakes as southern borders. Whoever makes the grab for those spots please let me know. We can hash out the borders together. I don't want to venture out of 0402 by too much but the rivers do need to empty into the eastern sea and would therefore run through those grids.

Claimants of grids 302, 401, and 502 to my north please contact me vulcanstev(SHIFT-2)hotmail(DOT)com

I'm happy to divide up hex 503. I'm assuming you don't want your country to be completely cut off from the ocean. How about we just cut 503 in half (basically where the "05" appears in the hex). I'll take the territory above the lake and you can take the territory below the lake. -- Derek.

@Derek I'm game for that. Especially if we put a navigable river or canal of the lake that empties into the ocean. What do we want to name the Lake. I'm toying with the idea of taking one of the Native American names for one of the great lakes as a starting point.

@Vulcan Stev - Funny, we were thinking the same thing about adding a river. Since no rivers are marked on the map then I assume we can add them as we see fit. As far as naming the lake (and river, country, etc), we haven't really gotten that far into the process yet. But we're open to suggestions.
Just as an FYI, when I'm at work Mon-Fri I don't have access to my personal email account, but I can access this site/page. For me this is easier and more convenient then email, especially if there’s anything the needs a timely response. Once we're ready to start hashing out specific details we'll contact you by email.

I've mapped out my area (601 - 702) a little bit more here:

I put a few comments. I don't know who will be in areas 501 and 600 and 701 yet, but whenever it's chosen, let's talk conflicts!!

@ Derek - Looks like the Evil DM (Chuck, Gregor LaBlaque) is building an independent City State at the mouth of our River. BTW I'm opening up the borders of Ayuhwa somewhat.

I was thinking more along the lines of at the confluence of two rivers, but I'm waiting to see how you guys place your river before I try to convince you to add an extra one or two. I've had some thoughts about what's down at the mouth of the river (a city full of halflings loosely based on New Orleans) as well, though.
