About the Trust

Robert Feigin was a Physical Chemist by profession and was passionate about inspiring a love of Science learning in young people. He was a parent of three children who all attended The King David School from the age of three until the end of primary school.

After Robert's untimely death in 1994, at the age of 42, a group of Robert's close friends set up The Robert Feigin Memorial Scholarship Trust, with the goal of promoting his passion for inspiring young people to pursue education and careers in science. To this end, and because of his close connection with the school, a Senior Science prize was created at The King David School to be awarded annually at the Presentation Evening.

In 2006, the Trustees proposed a Scientist in Residence program at The King David School to be funded by the Trust. In conjunction with the KDS Science Faculty, the Robert Feigin Science Program, which has evolved from this initial proposal, strives to provide students with access to scientists who are world leaders in their field of expertise. It also offers students hands-on access to a number of exciting Science initiatives, such as our Robotics and Small Sounding Rocket programs. Each year the Robert Feigin Science Program aims to add to its list of program offerings.

In recent years the program has grown, with some of the activities now reaching out further than the King David School. The Trust aims to extend this outreach over the next few years, allowing children from less advantaged backgrounds to join some of the exciting activities being run by the King David School as part of Robert Feigin Science Program.
