Places in the World to take a nap

BOBOLI GARDENS FLORENCE iTALY

Trip |Hunter

The gardens behind the Palazzo Pitti are well known among hardcore nappers. If you wander up the hill from the garden’s central amphitheater you’ll find a giant stone head and a patch of open, lush grass with incredible views over Florence. When you’re done here, follow the shaded path down the hill to the west and you’ll find a pair of sculptures that look like two giant Mentos candies in the forest. The mammoth granite discs stay remarkably cooler than the surrounding air and make a great place to rest on a hot summer day in Tuscany

Playa Del Carme, Mexico

I had the pleasure of staying here during a “business” trip. Even in November it was a balmy 80 degrees on the beach and the water was like a bath. The private beach is soft, white sand and strategically covered with hammocks, loungers and umbrellas. The pagoda at the end of the dock has 2 loungers for an even more secluded nap session. Oh and the entire beach has wifi so you can enrage your friends by posting photos of yourself sipping a mojito while they choke down a crap pasty from Gregg’s.Find more

BOTANICAL GARDEN CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA

The botanical gardens at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town covers an area of 528 hectares with 36 hectares of cultivated garden. This is without question one of the best spots in the world for a lazy Sunday picnic followed by a snooze. You’re within spitting distance of some phenomenal wineries here, so finding a decent bottle of red to wash down the cheese sandwiches won’t be a problem. What’s more, Kirstenbosch has hosted some incredible musicians over the years. Paul Simon has played here a number of times, as have the 3 Tenors and Elton John.
