Aire FM 1998 - 2001

In 1998 'The New' was dropped from the station name and another new schedule was introduced, with a new logo. The station had no sung jingles at this point, only voice-overs.

Simon Logan (pictured below) joined the station from Viking FM to present Breakfast. During his time on the show, he had co-presented with Vicky Lockin, Katy Kaboom and Imogen Lamb. Jo Taylor presented the news, whilst Jono Symonds was the producer and Rich Williams was 'Monkey Boy'. Simon brought his legendary 'WInd-Ups' feature with him, which proved to be so popular, the best ones were released on CD and were available to buy in HMV.

Presenters also included Steve Buck on mid- mornings, Ingrid on afternoons, Simon James & Hill on Drive, Matt Wilkins on evenings and Glenn Pinder (pictured below) on the Late Show.

Overnights and weekends were covered by Wyatt Wendels, Elinor Hamilton and Buckley (with his 'in the Groove' dance show).

Some networked shows were broadcast on weekends, including Friday Night Kiss and the Smirnoff Experience with Tall Paul.

Katy Kaboom also presented a Sunday afternoon programme, live from the White Rose Shopping Centre.

In 2000, to follow the corporate Emap 'Big City' branding, the logo was changed again. There were still no jingles at this time, only station voice overs/sweepers. The station was also briefly identified as Aire 963 during late 2000 / early 2001.
