Storyboard

A storyboard is a graphical representation of a complete animation or film. It is a kind of "cartoon" of the scenes of a piece of writing. It is the process of producing sketches of the shots of your script, the end result of which will resemble a comic book of your film. In this activity, you will create a storyboard of a scene from your book. Pick a scene that is memorable, one that resonates with you, and one that you feel captures the tones and themes of the story.

READY...

Storyboards are not only used in the film industry. They are also used in business, politics, and architecture. Storyboards contribute to making the quality of your film much better. In addition, it is an excellent tool for planning a production (pre-visualize the idea) and to share that idea with others in the clearest language possible.

SET...

A template of a storyboard has been prepared and made available for you to print up and use.

The storyboard should be neat enough to be read clearly. Its pictures and visual representations do not have to be perfect (you don't really need to be able to draw), but the storyboard should be able to be read and understood without additional translation.

The storyboard should represent a complete story. Making a storyboard prior to filming a scene is crucial in helping you organize your thoughts and the events of the scene.

...GO!

In order for your storyboard to be effective, it should include the following elements:

  • Graphic images

  • Verbal descriptions

  • Transitions

  • Sound

  • Duration for each frame

Once you have completed your storyboard, use it to film your scene's reenactment.
