Every year, Hollywood takes in billions of dollars in profits from movies. Movie studios are always on the look out for fresh scripts and stories to turn into blockbusters. In this curriculum unit, you are going to pitch Hollywood on the idea of making a movie based on the book you just read. In order to help the movie studios believe your book can be turned into a successful movie, you will have to convince them by showing them some products. You will be creating all of the promotional materials for the movie, such as the teaser trailer, the movie poster, and the taglines for the film. You will also need to show them how well the book will translate to the screen by reenacting a scene from your book using storyboarding and animation. You will also get to pitch the studios on actors and actresses you think will be right to play the parts of the book's characters.

In Lesson One, you will be creating the website for your movie. This website is where you will post all of your final products.

In Lesson Two, you will write taglines for your movie. These taglines will be used a promotional marketing resources for later lessons.

Lesson Three is your opportunity to pitch the studios on the actors and actresses you feel should play the characters in your book.

Lesson Four has you create the movie poster.

In Lesson Five, you will be putting together a teaser trailer to create interest and build hype for your movie.

Lessons Six and Seven are complementary, you will be putting together a storyboard of a scene from your book and filming it into a mini-movie. This will give the studios a sample of what the movie could look like on a screen.

Lesson Eight is your final effort to convince the movie studio that they should turn your book into a movie. You will create a full trailer for the book, where you will show or talk about the plot, setting, characters and other elements.

Good luck!
