I was introduced to electronics and shortwave listening by my father when I was eight years old. Apparently I had expressed interest in listening even earlier, according to the recently discovered photo to the right. I don't remember the radio specifically, but it may explain my penchant for Eddystone sliderule dials. My first receiver was a small National Panasonic portable radio. This was followed by an old Pye radio. My first communications receiver was a National HRO-7, followed by a Hallicrafters SX-28A. Later I acquired a Barlow Wadley portable receiver and a Yaesu FR-50B. A Microwave Modules converter added 2m receive capability to the Barlow Wadley. A Panasonic RF-1150 portable rounded out the receivers.
