How the visualizer works

In the diagram below, you can see how to visualizer works with the audio and midi files.

The audio files (mp3) contain the real recorded sound, while the midi files contain the corresponding midi data, that is the notes and string information.

In the host program of your choice (e.g. Reaper), you load two tracks, one with audio, and one with midi. The midi data is routed to the visualizer VST plugin, that you have installed. So, while the audio plays, the midi track produces the note display on the fretbaord. Of course the two tracks have to be synchronized, by setting the correct playing tempo (bpm).

In stead of the real recorded sound, you can also choose to use a sound generating plugin with the midi track. This could for instance be a plugin that generates guitar sound. The advantage of this setup is that you can play the midi at any speed, with unlimited flexibility.
