INTERNATIONAL HERBERT MARCUSE SOCIETY

•    Herbert Marcuse Prize, awarded occasionally by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, for lifetime achievement in advancing critical theory in the struggle for liberation.

•    Marielle Franco Prize, awarded biennially by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, for an outstanding paper presented by a young scholar on the theme of the Society's conference.

•   Prize in Aesthetics, Politics, and Cultural Studies, awarded occasionally by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, for an outstanding work (e.g., book, article, essay)—recently published—that advances the critical theory of aesthetics, politics, and cultural studies in the struggle for liberation. 

•   Prize in Critical Technology Studies, awarded occasionally by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, for an outstanding work (e.g., book, article, essay)—recently published—that advances the critical theory of technology in the struggle for liberation. 

•    Bolívar Echeverría Prize, awarded occasionally by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, for an outstanding work (e.g., book, article, essay)—recently published in Spanish—that advances critical theory in the struggle for liberation.

•    Bento Prado Jr. Prize, awarded occasionally by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, for an outstanding work (e.g., book, article, essay)—recently published in Portuguese—that advances critical theory in the struggle for liberation.

•    Marcuse Society PhD Research Fellowship, awarded annually to selected students who are undertaking critical research while enrolled in PhD programs at participating universities worldwide.

•    Peter Marcuse Research Fellowship and Prize in Critical Urban Theory, Policy, and Planning, awarded occasionally in support of students and young scholars contributing to critical urban studies, development and social planning, alternative economy, and related subjects in ways that advance critical theory in the struggle for liberation.

•    Maria Érbia Cássia Carnaúba Conference Scholarship, awarded biennially by the International Herbert Marcuse Society, to fund travel and other expenses in support of graduate students—throughout the Americas and the Global South—to enable their attendance at the Society’s conferences and programs.
