Game Review

Love Plus is a new dating simulation game from KONAMI. It was released for Nintendo DS in September 2009.

In this game, you will meet three pretty girls at your high school. Each girl has her unique personalities. Your goal for the first part of the game is to try to get close to the girls and to get one girl to be your girlfriend within 100 days.

If you succeed in the first part, you can proceed to the second part of the game where that girl becomes your virtual girlfriend. You can ask her out to a date, hold her hands, touch her, or even kiss her (virtually, of course.)

One nice feature of this game is that it is fully voiced. All the conversations in this game, excluding your own character's, will be voiced. (It's a really good listening practice for those who are studying Japanese.) You can also choose how you want the characters in the game to say your name.

This game also uses DS's voice recognition system. You can chat with your virtual girlfriend and she will respond according to what you say. (The choices of conversation are limited but it's enough to have fun with.)

You can also see how the girl tries to change herself to be the type of girl that you like. As your progress in the game, you will be able to ask her to change her hairstyle, dress style, or even her personality. There are a lot of things you can unlock and a lot of events to see.

Well, I don't know what else to say. There's this promo video I found on the web, so I think it should give your some idea about the game. :)

Note: Some people may wonder whether you will be able to play this game with zero Japanese knowledge. I guess you can. It is still fun to interact with the girls even when you have no idea at all what they are saying. It may be a little difficult to response to the girls' questions but you can just randomly pick your choices. However, there are parts where you have to say some actual Japanese words through Nintendo DS's microphone to get through the game. The words are not difficult though. So I guess you can get pass those points within a few tries.
