Spanish Club
What is the Spanish Club?
Spanish club is an extra-curricular opportunity for students to experience language activities beyond what we normally have time for in the classroom.
Who can join the Spanish Club?
Students enrolled in Spanish 1 (see Sr. S), Spanish 2, Spanish 3 , Spanish 4 (IB), Spanish 5 (IB) & AP Spanish Language.
Who is the sponsor of the Spanish Club?
Señor Sullivan is the club sponsor. See him if you should have further questions or need more information about the club.
When does the Spanish Club meet and what does the Spanish Club do?
The Spanish Club meets every Wednesday afternoon from 02:45-04:00 PM to offer opportunities to socialize, practice Spanish, and participate in cultural activities meant to extend language practice in Spanish beyond what is covered in class. Activities may include games, short soap operas, cooking classes, and films in Spanish; organization of civic projects, field trips, and fund raising; group readings of poetry, newspapers, and mythology; crafts, cultural celebrations, and much, much more. The club is student centered and all who participate are encouraged to share ideas for future activities.
Does the Spanish Club have field trips?
In the past, we field trips were held once or twice a year to a Latin American-Hispanic cultural event: a music or dance performance, museum visit (Dali), tour of Ybor City, etc. followed by lunch at a Latin American-Hispanic restaurant where students can practice language skills ordering food and interacting in Spanish. At present, field trips remain a possibility pending bus availability, administrative approval, budget, and student interest.
How much does it cost?
$15.00 (covers cost of the club t-shirt)
If dues are a barrier to participation, please see Sr. Sullivan and special arrangements will be made.
