Corpus Christi Sequence

Here's my attempt to set the approved English poetic text (based on Lauda Sion by St. Thomas Aquinas) to fixed verses I hope a choir-supported assembly will sing.  One way to do it:  assembly and cantor/choir together on vv. 1-2, 5-6, 9-10, 13-14, 17-18; cantor/choir only on 3-4, 7-8, 11-12, 15-16, 19-24.  To simplify the song further (try to make the repetition an advantage), you can use the melody for vv. 1-2 for vv. 3-4 (4 times) or vice versa (5 times).  Verses 19-24 have more lines than the earlier verses.  (BTW I thought of writing a different vv. 3-4 with the same harmony as vv. 1-2 so the tunes could be sung together, but, though the geek in me likes the idea, I'm afraid it would make assembly singing less likely.)

CorpusChristiSequenceLaudaSion is the leadsheet.  Thanks to cantor Jamie Cunanan for the recording above of vv. 1-4 and 17-20 at the 11am Mass at St. Bede the Venerable, La Canada Flintridge, 6/11/2023.  (Camera is on altar, but we're in the choir loft.)  Demo of original version (about demos)

CorpusChristiSequenceSATB includes SATB parts for the second set of verses.
