God is vulnerable (Vol 4 No 12)
In Jesus we see the love we all need,
A picture of God in his every deed;
Yet is there some value, can there be some worth
To contemplate God in the tales of his birth?
For here is a life so fragile and weak,
Dependent, unsure; he still cannot speak!
This tale of a baby we might think as odd
To herald, uncover the mysteries of God.
In this infant child we see God confined;
We see God depends upon humankind;
This helpless boy Jesus, needs love to survive;
So only with our love will God’s purpose thrive.
This story is true; it prompts us to see
The world always needs, from you and from me,
Our love and our courage to play our small part
To bring to completion what stirs in God’s heart.
To answer this call we come here today
To pledge to the babe asleep on the hay
Our eager commitment to grow as he grows,
And follow him closely wherever he goes.
