Special Thanks To...

This page is here because without two very important individuals, this website would be nothing more than a fansite with speculation about why the artistic change occurred. However, with their input into the matter, this site takes on credibility and now goes beyond the basic "I think this happened because..." rhetoric.

With that in mind, I'd like to personally thank retired Ranger Rick editor-in-chief, Gerry Bishop, retired story publisher and writer, Robert Brownridge, and retired design director, Donna Miller for all the information provided, detailing why and how Ranger Rick has evolved over 40 years of publication. That is no small feat for a magazine!

Some of Donna's comments to me about the modern Ranger Rick:

We hope to see the stories animated one day in the future as kids turn more and more to multi media.

That's the story--times change, styles change; but the important thing is that the Adventure is still a favorite with our readers . The most satisfying thing for me today is to read the letters from scientists, nature photographers, and other naturalists who read Ranger Rick. Walk into any nature center and ask who got Ranger Rick and I'll bet the hands will go up.

Donna Miller, with Ranger Rick!

Donna Miller recently retired from the NWF as Ranger Rick's art director after 40 years on the job. Read about her experience as art director at this blog:
