Calendar from 1985

Sometime during 1985 (forgot which issue this popped out of off the top of my head), readers were given a large fold-out calendar complete with images of the residents of Deep Green Wood having fun in Shady Pond. On the flipside was a portrait of Ranger Rick Raccoon and Scarlett Fox, waving at you. All artwork was drawn by the artist at the time, Alton Langford. The artwork is clearly the piece to behold as the calendar did nothing more than note the day of the week and corresponding date, leaving young rangers no room to jot down any important memos. Bummer. Maybe that's why I lucked out and the calendar was still attached when I purchased my 1980s issues from a yard sale eons ago.

Due to the fact the calendar is four times the size of the magazine when folded out, it presented a challenge when scanning. The characters in Shady Pond had to be cut out separately as the scanner misjudged size and any sort of panorama image left poor Zelda Possum missing parts of her body in some shape or form. Additionally, the portrait of Rick and Scarlett, I was unable to recreate in full-size. I give you my honest word, I tried my hardest to get things to match and line up, but my scanner (upgraded to the Canon MP980) must've done some calculations and cropping of its own so it became impossible to line up things. Thus, all I have is the top part of the image (not that you really needed to see Rick and Scarlett's hind legs now did you?).

Update: 4, September, 2010 - A special thanks to Kye for sending me a full picture of the Ranger Rick and Scarlett Fox portrait.

My scan of the portrait (high resolution, but my scanner isn't big enough to capture the whole picture at once).

The entire portrait, as sent by Kye.
