A selection of plain (white cotton) and token pennants make up your own 2.5m bunting. For a total of 7 pennants you could choose maybe 4 plain and 3 tokens to make an extra special gift. If you would prefer to have one made up into a heart token - each one of these can be made in that way.

Choices of tokens include:

This pennant is surrounded by lace/embroidery anglaise to signify the bridal veil. It also has a horse-shoe charm sewn onto it.The lucky horseshoe is said to be linked to the legend associated with the 10th century St. Dunstan who trapped the Devil and as a result extracted a promise never to enter the house of a Christian, which he would recognise by a horseshoe hung above the door. Hence the symbolism of the "Lucky Horseshoe"; Because the horseshoe is " U " shaped, to retain the the good luck forever , the horseshoe should not be turned upside down or else all the good luck of the marriage may fall out.

This pennant has a felt heart through which is placed a small wooden spoon. The wooden spoon originated from Wales. It was given to a lady by her admirer. A man would need to show both the woman he loved and her father his intentions. The carved spoon would show he was good with his hands and so he could work the fields and provide for her and the carved heart would be to show his affection for her. If she keeps the spoon then this would indicate that her heart belonged to him.

A pouch on the pennant contains confetti and a small candle with an attached card stating the following rhyme:A candle is a simple thing,It starts with just a piece of string.Yet dipped and dipped with patient hand,It gathers wax upon the strandUntil, complete and snowy white,It gives at last a lovely light.

Life seems like that piece of string,

Each deed we do a simple thing.

Yet day by day, if on life's strand

We work with patient heart and hand

It gathers joy, makes dark days bright

And gives at last a lovely light.

This pennant has the rhyme "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" inserted into a white felt heart.Something Old… The “old” must be something which has belonged to a happily married woman. The wearing of such an item insures a lucky transfer of happiness to the new bride and signifies a sense of continuity, tradition and represents the link to the bride’s old life and her family. Many brides would wear their mother’s wedding gown or family jewelry. Something New… Signifies hope for the future. The bridal gown can be used here, if it is purchased new – or any other new item purchased as part of the bridal attire.

Something Borrowed… The “borrowed” must be some object of value/significance to guarantee wealth and prosperity in the future. Brides can borrow jewelry or a special handkerchief from a family member or close friend.(http://weddings.usabride.com/wedding-planning advice/something-old-something-new)

A pennant to signify the "something blue" and comes with a simple blue felt heart sewn onto it.Something Blue… The “blue” is symbolic of the heavens and also of true love. It signifies fidelity, purity and love. This why you see so many garters with blue ribbon or detailing!

This pennant comes with a "silver" sixpence sewn into the lace and a note stating "and a silver sixpence in my shoe" attached with a small heart peg.The custom says that to ensure the couple's wealth and happiness the bride should put the coin in her left shoe. In some areas the custom is for the father of the bride to put the sixpence in the shoe, this is probably an amalgamation of the older dowry tradition and the more modern interpretation.
