Q. lamellosa - Lamellosa Oak

native to the Himalayas to the Orient this huge Oak is known to grow to 200 feet tall with a trunk diameter reaching 10 feet across. Practically unknown in the U.S. but holding massive potential as an evergreen shade tree. Trees planted in Cornwall, England and warmer parts of Ireland have thrived and already reached 66 feet tall. The gigantic evergreen ornamental foliage reaches up to 18 inches long and 9 inches wide, is elliptic, leathery, dark green above and white below and shaped like the Chestnut Oak with sharply serrated margins. Bark is rough and grey brown. hardy north to zone 8 and LOVES HOT SUMMERS!!! An imposing tree; this is the noblest of all Oaks!
