Sally's Chili

Sally used a number of dried ingredients (garlic and onions, for example) which I've replaced with fresh ingredients. I've also added some jalapeño peppers.

Ingredients

    • 4 lbs lean ground beef (for a vegetarian version, just omit this, or use 400 grams of dry TVP)
    • 8 cloves garlic, minced
    • 4 white onions, chopped
    • 8 jalapeño peppers, chopped and seeds removed (if you want it spicy, leave the seeds in)
    • 140 oz canned red kidney beans (or black beans, or a mixture)
    • 140 oz canned Italian plum tomatoes
    • ½ bottle chili sauce
    • 2 T Worcestershire sauce
    • ½ cup chili powder
    • 3 bay leaves
    • ¼ cup crushed cumin seed
    • ¼ cup crushed red pepper

To Prepare

    1. In a large pot, sauté the beef, garlic, and onions until the beef is brown and the onions translucent
    2. Add all remaining ingredients
    3. Simmer for 2 hours
