Capilano lake, river, salmon hatchery; and hike from the base of Grouse mountain along the Baden-Powell trail east to Lynn Headwaters regional park

Started from Horseshoe Bay, following the Baden Powell Trail to Eagles, Black Mountain, and then to Alpine Ski area. If starts in the morning one can walk Baden Powell trail from Horseshoe bay passing Eagles, Black Mountain, and end at Capilano (Cleveland) dam. The climb to eagles (approximate 1000 m) is steep and rocky. Snow, wet and slippery on the trail between Eagles and Black Mountain

I started late in the afternoon without a printed map. Lot of snow, and signs were at several places hard to find. Finally after passing Dead Tree pass I got lost and started going downhill the steep slope walking over 3 or 4 streams and finally arrived at a rocky creek with an opening. Where I thought I could not go on getting down the slippery rocks. I could see the second narrow and Vancouver far down in the distance. Taking advantage of availability of cell phone signals I called 911, and in few hours Coquitlam Search & Rescue took action to find me.
