Final Project Proposal
Project Ideation
1- Tell us about the purpose of your project. Which problem does it solve? Why do you care about this? What were you inspired by? Include images and videos of similar projects
The idea of my project is to make a smart curtain with a light sensor for the sun and a sound sensor, the user can set a specific time to open and close it according to his need.
This idea is intended for the convenience of the user, as when it is present, he will not need to get up and move from the bed to close it at sunrise
You can see similar models through the following links:
2- Describe the project idea and general features. How would it work?
The general idea of the project is to sense the light sensor in the sun, so it is automatically closed without user intervention, and the user can set a specific time for opening and closing when it is not available or according to need. He can also control it by voice through certain recorded messages that are sensed by the sound sensor.
3- Sketch your project: You may use pen and paper or a simple sketching tool like Microsoft Paint or Photoshop
Project Planning
4- Describe the Technical Modules that your project consists of
Construction Parts
Small room model made of plywood(3mm) fabricated by a laser cutting machine
Input
(Sensing, Tactile Input, and/or Graphical Input)
Tactile Input: ON/OFF Switch -motor-
Sensing:light sensor(LDR) - DHT Sensor
Graphical Inputs: Mobile Application
Action
(Physical and/or Graphic)
Physical :The position of the curtain changes as soon as the light is sensed, when the specified words are heard, or when the time specified by the user appears
Graphic: LCD
Brain
An Arduino board would act as the smart device's brain that processes the Input and send orders to perform the Action
Power Management
adaptor
5- Create a cardboard prototype of your project, demonstrating the project face as well as internal movements and mechanisms. Include a demo video and photos of the prototype.
6- Categorize your project’s User Features into: Minimum, Complete, and Nice-to-have features. List the required action and input components per feature.
Minimum Features: are the least amount of features that would demonstrate the coverage of all the technical modules and their complete integration
Complete Features: are the set of features that will complete your original project objective and vision
Nice-to-have Features: are the extra set of features that will make the project cooler, yet they need extra time, effort, and/or resources to finish
Minimum User Features
Complete User Features
Action: Control the curtain by phone
Sensing: Mobile Application
Action: Show temperature
Sensing: DHT Sensor
User Input: none
Nice-to-have User Features
User Input: The user can set a specific time to close or open
Action: The curtain is programmed to open or close when certain sentences are heard (movie time - bedtime)
Sensing:Mobile Application
User Input: Say the selected keywords
