What is AVID?

AVID is a regularly scheduled elective class at Placer High School that prepares students in the middle, with academic potential, for success in advanced high school classes and in college. AVID is a four-year elective program.   Placer High School is the only certificated high school AVID program in the Placer Union High School District and the Auburn area.

¨      Average to High Test Scores

¨      College Potential with Support

¨      2.0-3.5 GPA

¨      Desire and Determination 

Meets one or more of the following criteria 

     ¨      First to Attend College

¨      Historically Underserved College

¨      Family Hardships/Special Circumstances


Who May Participate:

 Students who have the potential and desire to attend a four-year college and…

¨      have appropriate classroom behavior.

¨      have a good attendance record.

¨      have good work habits.

       ¨      are willing to commit to enrollment in a rigorous college preparatory courses
