Memorandum of Understanding between PSUT and the University of Arizona – Tucson, USA

Working within the prevailing circumstances brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic, Princess Sumaya University for Technology has signed a remote memorandum of understanding with the University of Arizona - Tucson, USA, which allows Jordanian students who wish to study there to enroll at Princess Sumaya University for Technology during the first year of their studies.

According to the memorandum, signed by the President of PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, students wishing to study at the University of Arizona will be able to submit applications through PSUT. Upon admission, these students will be able to study some of the first year courses at Princess Sumaya University for Technology, paying a competitive rate of fees, prior to transitioning to the University of Arizona to complete their studies.

Al-Refai praised the agreement that constitutes a new initiative for the University, as well as serving Jordanian education in general. He noted that the memo is the third to be signed with the University of Arizona. The previous two memoranda have resulted in the establishment of a joint program in Engineering Management between the two universities two years ago, and the holding of courses in cybersecurity that will be implemented during the month of June.

Notably, Princess Sumaya University for Technology holds international accreditation for all its academic Schools, and the University of Arizona-Tucson is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.


The first online master defense!


Suha Rasheed, a master student in the business entrepreneurship has defe

nded her thesis today using Zoom. This defense was scheduled on April 2nd. However, due to the COVID-19 circumstances, it has postponed hoping that we get back to the campus.

Today, 26th of April, she did it, under the supervision of D. Mohammad Khasawneh, with Professor Shafiq Haddad, D. Abduelraheem Abu Albasal and D. Ahmad Adwan in her defense committee.

PSUT best research achievement

The number of research works published by Princess Sumaya University for Technology exceeded 200 in 2019, rising from 45 in 2014, according to the global Scopus research databases. This is the greatest achievement in the University’s history and gives it top ranking in research at the national level, according to the QS World University Rankings, in terms of the ratio of research to faculty members. PSUT occupies the rank of sixteenth in the Arab world.

The President of PSUT, Prof. Mashhoor Al-Refai, expressed his pleasure at this achievement, recognizing the hard work of the faculty and students and their tireless efforts. He emphasized that the achievement is the result of efforts made by the University’s administration, under the guidance of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, to put into practice several pieces of legislation that stimulate researchers, and to achieve the University’s vision of advancing the level of scientific research and its progress in keeping pace with global trends.

The Dean of the King Abdullah I School for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at PSUT, Prof. Mohammad Sababheh, pointed out the importance of recognizing and encouraging researchers through the implementation of legislation to keep pace with global trends, such as encouraging the formation of research groups, supporting the attendance of international conferences, granting a sabbatical leave to faculty members, providing scholarships for graduate students, and attracting distinguished faculty and students.

Prof. Sababheh explained that the University’s focus on certain specializations and its focus on quality contributed to these accomplishments, and that the published research works cover a diverse range in terms of content in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Business. He pointed out that the University has focused on qualitative, applied research and publication in distinguished international journals.

Sabbaheh stated that PSUT is looking forward to further research achievements during the coming years, especially in areas that impact the local community, despite the importance of scientific research itself to improve the mental and cognitive level of societies.

Notably, a number of research achievements were made at PSUT in 2019, including: the inclusion of the Jordanian Journal of Computer and Information Technology in the Scopus Database, the holding of the Second International Conference on Modern Trends in Computing Sciences, amending the regulations for participating in conferences, approving the basis for financial rewards given to students for published research, listing funded research projects within the works accepted for the promotion purposes, and approving the system of research incentives that will come into effect this year.


Professor Ahmad Hiasat: a thousand citations!

Professor Ahmad Hiasat, a computer engineering professor, has been working in PSUT since 1996. During this period, he has published about 50 indexed PSUT affiliated publications, among which 11 papers have been published in IEEE transaction journals!

Today, we congratulate him for earning a 1000 citations on his work, according to Google scholar.
