About
How We Got Started (FIRST SEASON)
HHS Robotics Program started in late October of 2021. The whole team worked hard to buy and build a Robotics lab from scratch. From assembly of workbenches and workshop machines, to laying down carpet in our training area and setting up our first Robotics website, everyone helped.
In January of 2022, we received our first FIRST Robotics kit and started building it right away. Every step of the way was a new learning experience for the Mentors as well as the Students. Many lessons were learned and our ability to overcome adversity was realized.
By early March of 2022, we had the start of a Robot but still had a lot of learning ahead. Our Robot was ready only the week before our first event in Cleveland, Ohio. At the event we were able to practice in a real FIRST game enclosures and even used a practice area to refine our Robot.
By the end of our first FIRST event, we had won the "Highest Seed Rookie Team" award and the "All Star Rookie Team" award. Then we received a "Wildcard" spot at the FIRST Robotics Championship in Houston, Texas (much more than expected but well deserved).
