Visits From Actresses of the Warehouse Theater
We had delightful visits from Ms. Becca and Ms. Katie this year. They showed us how to take Shakespeare's words and add detailed movements and sounds. We enjoyed playing games through acting and reviewed the use of iambic pentameter in Shakespeare's language.

Shakespeare and Theater
November Acting Class.....An actress visited from the Greenville Little Theater. Students in third grade experienced the language used in Shakespeare plays, possible actions that the actors made and learned about other styles of character voices through games. It was an awesome moring with our visitor. We hope you enjoy our pictures.

Third Grade Challenge
Welcome to third grade challenge! The students will love their first year in Challenge as we study the life and works of William Shakespeare. We will begin researching his life and forming our information into a report. The life and times of the period will be studied and four of his major plays. Also, we will have an actress from The Greenville Little Theater to share her expertise on acting. As Shakespeare would say, we will be "fancy free" this year developing our language arts and dramatic skills.

Research of the Elizabethan Era
Actor from Greenville Little Theater
We had an actor, Johnathan Kilpatrick to visit us from the Little Theater. He taught us about gestures and phrases of Shakespeare's plays. We practiced our own gesture and words from some various plays. This year, we will be reading four of his plays. We hope you enjoy our pictures. We greatly appreciate the funding from our school and the following organizations: TD Charitable, Kiwanis, and Rotary of Greenville.
Researching Shakespeare
Our students in third grade have been researching Shakespeare in a variety of ways. We have used technology, books, videos in order to learn about his life. Students are learning how to take their notes about his life and compile into a research report model. Shakespeare was such an important writer which we will never forget.

Third Grade Challenge students are learning about the Elizabethan time period, and comparing it to our current time period. Here we are playing a strategy game from the Elizabethan period called, "Nine Man Morris". Students had to follow the directions and figure out winning strategies.
Our favorite actress, Ms. Katie form the Warehouse Theater, came to teach us more about Shakespeare. We are making our gestures which go with lines from his famous plays. Chandler Creek greatly appreciate the Kiwanis' Club of Greenville for sponsoring this special activity.
"The Globe" theatre has a new meaning for our third graders. After researching the life and accomplishments of William Shakespeare, students are now learning about the many components of Shakespeare's theatre. We opened a time capsule from the times of 1599 with many items representing life in the theatre.
Below third grade students used headbands to learn new vocabulary for our unit.
