Seizures

Whether it is the first time a student experiences a seizure or a student has an epilepsy diagnosis, parents should feel comfortable that our staff is trained in what to do should a seizure occur during school hours.

For students who do not have a seizure history, 911 is immediately called should this event happen at school. For those students with a seizure disorder, we kindly ask that they have a Seizure Action Plan on file to ensure their child's teachers know that student's individual protocol.

After any seizure has occurred, the nurse will debrief the incident with any staff members involved. A detailed seizure observation record will be completed and given to the parent if requested. This valuable information can help keep data organized and be available to give to a neurologist in the future.
