Cedaredge Elementary

Cedaredge, Colorado

Garden beds were built and installed by the Farm to School Program and a group of teacher and parent volunteers! Soil was added in the Fall of 2021 and students were introduced to the garden! We are very excited to see what we will be able to grow next season!

2022 Garden Update: Beautiful barrel pots and fencing were added to help protect the garden from deer and add pollinator plants. After a successful Summer Garden Club, we continued into the fall and opened it up to more students. After we had over 50(!) sign-ups, a second after-school session was added.

CES's 3rd grade classes are currently getting in on the gardening action with an eight week study about soil and worms! Students are engaging in hands-on lessons to learn about the importance of soil in our lives and for our earth. Soon they'll get to take care of their very own vermicomposting bin!

Students in the Garden!

Planting fall veggies and cover crop at CES! We brainstormed different ways to take care of ourselves + others, our school and our world. Then we worked on a collaborative art project where each student drew a picture of what they would like to see grow or live in the garden. Strawberries, watermelon and worms were the most popular answers!
