Education

The Farm to School program connects children to the land by giving them the knowledge to make healthy choices and teaching them to understand and appreciate where their food comes from and how they can grow it on their own using environmentally friendly practices .

Every year we have the opportunity to work with 2,500 K-6 students. We engage students in garden related nutrition lessons that inspire students to make healthy choices that can can have a positive influence on their physical, academic, social and emotional well-being.

Our garden educators teach hands-on agriculture and environmental lessons in the classroom and garden, inspiring stewardship of our lands. We provide a variety of opportunities for students to get outside to learn where their food comes from, how to grow nutrient dense fruits and vegetables, and the best ways to pick, store and eat their harvests.

Weekly summer and fall garden clubs offer third through sixth grade students an opportunity to dive deeper into stewardship. Students plan, start, and maintain their school garden through the growing season. They harvest produce to share with their families, classrooms, and to sell at the local farmers markets.

Half day camps get kids moving and learning all summer long. We keep our students engaged with lots of games, crafts, cooking, guest speakers, and science experiments! Themes from past camps include healthy eating, beekeeping, engineering, dirt and worms, solar energy, and many more!

We bring educational opportunites to our families at their homes. Our seed kit project allows families to register for a free spring seed kit and then visit our website to learn how to grow their own food at home.
