What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is a password protected and Web-based Learning Management System that allows instructors to deliver course materials, communicate with students, and create learning activities. Bloomfield College currently uses Blackboard to support online courses and classroom instruction. The registered students can access their course materials, and participate in the discussions anytime and anywhere that has an Internet connection.
Is Your Browser compatible with Blackboard?
Blackboard requires a supported Web browser to function properly. Click to view Browser support compatibility info.
Click the Browser Check to see if your Browser is supported
Clear Cache & Cookies in the Web Browser
Safari Clear Cache -
Click on the Safari drop-down menu and select Preferences.
Click the Advanced tab. Select the Show Develop menu in menu bar checkbox and close the Preferences window.
Select the Develop drop-down menu. Click Empty Cache.
Note: You may want to also clear your browser history.
Manage Web Browser Pop-Up Blockers for Blackboard
Blackboard Courses require you to turn off Pop-up block or have the Blackboard URL added to the “allowable” list of pop-ups for the browser.
For Google Chrome (Version 84.0.4147.135 )
Click on the 3 dots to the top right corner
Click on Settings
Scroll down and Under Privacy and Security, click on Site settings
Scroll down and click on Pop-ups and redirects to open the settings
1. Make sure https://bb.bloomfield.edu is not Blocked
2. Add https://bb.bloomfield.edu to Allow section if BC Blackboard site is not on the list
For Firefox (Version 79.0 )
Click on the 3 horizontal lines to the top right corner
Click on Options
Click Privacy & Security on the left menu
Under Permissions section, uncheck Block pop-up windows
or to make exception for BC Blackboard site, click on Exception to the right, enter URL https://bb.bloomfield.edu
Click Allow
Click Save Changes
For Safari (version 13.0)
Click on Safari menu
Click on Preferences
Select Websites in the top
Select bb.bloomfield.edu, select “Allow” from the drop-down list to the right
For Microsoft Edge (version 42.17134.1.0)
1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner and select settings
2. Scroll down and select View Advanced Settings – Block Pop-up can be turned off/on from here
How to Access Blackboard on Mobile Devices?
