NC Teacher Evaluation Manual
Beginning teachers are to be evaluated annually using the North Carolina Teacher Evaluation Rubric. This manual provides a comprehensive overview of the evaluation process for teachers. The intended purpose of the teacher evaluation process is to provide teachers with meaningful feedback on their performance while assessing their performance in relation to the NC Professional Teaching Standards.
NCEES Timeline & Comprehensive Evaluation Cycle
The NCEES timeline ensure BTs receive observations, feedback, and support in a timely manner throughout the year for professional growth.
The Comprehensive Evaluation Cycle is required for new teachers. It includes the following components:
Teacher Self-Assessment
Professional Development Plan (PDP)
Formal Observation (with pre- and post-conference no later than 10 days after observation)
Formal Observation (with post-conference no later than 10 days after observation)
Formal Observation (with post-conference no later than 10 days after observation)
Peer Observation (with post-conference no later than 10 days after observation)
Summative Evaluation Conference
