Standards

We will be working on the Ohio Revised Academic Content Standards for first grade this year in science. These standards will be taught and assessed throughout the school year. They are found on your child's standards-based report card. Your child is expected to improve upon and ideally master all standards in order to be prepared for second grade. Below are several different links that will bring you to the Ohio Model Curricula for first grade. The Science standards are broken into 3 categories - Earth and Space, Life and Physical science - but can all be found within the same link. Click on the link, then click on first grade to read the standards we will be working on this year.

Science - Earth, Life, Physical

* These standards cover topics such as the weather cycle, living things and their needs, the sun as our principal source of energy, and the forces that make things move. Having in depth discussions about these concepts can be beneficial.
