Examples of Dance Integration:

Lesson Focus: Create a dance to illustrate the life cycle of a butterfly.

Dance standards:

CHOREOGRAPHY. Understanding choreographic principles, processes, and structures.

C. Create and repeat a simple sequence with a beginning, middle, and end, both with and without rhythmic accompaniment; identify each of the parts of the sequence.

TECHNIQUE. Identifying and demonstrating movement elements and skills in performing dance.

A. Demonstrate nonlocomotor movements (e.g., bend, twist, stretch, swing).

Life Cycles of Organisms

1. Animals have life cycles that include being born, developing into adults,

reproducing, and eventually dying.

a. Observe and describe the growth and development of animals throughout their life cycles.

b. Investigate and understand that animals go through a series of orderly changes in their life cycles

Sample lesson topics:

· Create a geometry dance.

· Create a dance to illustrate how matter can be changed in form.

· Create a dance to explore and illustrate how people felt in the concentration camps during WWII.
